Caffiene and Your Health

Caffeine is big business. There are new coffee shops popping up
all over the place. You can’t go far without running into a
Starbucks. "Let’s get together for coffee. Time for a coffee
break. Coffee pot goes off before my feet hit the floor. Travel
mugs for sipping coffee on your way to work. I’ll just have this
chocolate bar to pick me up this afternoon." Caffeine - It’s
everywhere!

Many people have grown so accustomed to having their morning
coffee or soda that they don’t even consider the damaging effects
caffeine has on the body. On the contrary, most will tell you
that they NEED their jolt to get them moving in the morning or to
keep them upright throughout the day. Caffeine is present not
only in coffee, but also tea, soda, chocolates and in certain
pain relievers, such as aspirin or acetaminophen. It is also
sometimes used in combination with an antihistamine to overcome
the drowsiness caused by the antihistamine.

If you don’t think it’s addicting, try going off caffeine, cold
turkey. See if you don’t have a headache for two to nine days.
That’s caffeine withdrawal! You don’t need to be a coffeeholic
to experience negative physical symptoms. Even as little as one
to two cups a day can negatively affect you.

You may be experiencing a number of physical ailments that could
be caused solely from caffeine. The most common side effects of
caffeine include dizziness, headache, irritability, muscle
tension, nausea, nervousness, stuffy nose, unusual tiredness and
jitters.

Too much (overdose) of caffeine can give you all sorts of grief
such as stomach pain agitation, anxiety, restlessness,
confusion, seizures, dehydration, faster breathing rate, fast
heartbeat, fever, frequent urination, increased sensitivity to
touch or pain, irritability, muscle trembling or twitching,
vomiting, sometimes with blood, fibrocystic breast disease,
ringing or other sounds in ears, seeing flashes of “zig-zag”
lights, and trouble in sleeping. If you are diabetic or insulin
resistant, caffeine causes your body to produce more insulin and
you don’t want that. Caffeine makes all aspects of a menstrual
cycle worse. Isn’t that bad enough some months?

The next time you experience any of the above symptoms, try
cutting back on caffeine. That may be all it takes to take care
of the problem. Reduce caffeine intake gradually to prevent any
symptoms of withdrawal. Cut back on your intake or combine a
mixture of caffeinated and decaffeinated beverages until you’re
totally weaned off. People can, and do, survive ridding their
bodies of all caffeine. And they’re feeling much better for
it!

The pathology of the average

There is a chronic problem in our world that is widespread, crosses all social boundaries and is largely ignored. It is the unused human potential that is within all of us.

Many people excel in specific areas of life. They can be brilliant academicians, amazing athletes, or perhaps outstanding business people. But, these are just one or two aspects of life. Few individuals actualize holistic awareness - inclusive of all areas of life from the dense to the subtle dimensions. Common estimates report that few people bring to bear more than 5 - 10% of their human potential. The vast majority of humanity stays within comfortable boundaries of existence following the consensus of the masses.

Within each of us, there is infinite potential for growth and expanded awareness. At the core of our being is a divine spark, whose primary intention is to move through our conditioning and fully express itself. When left unaddressed, the unconscious programming of our mind, emotions and physical bodies will obstruct this primary intention and instead, choose to remain in the dense dimensions of human experience. The ego stays with what is known.... what is safe.... what "average" is. Perhaps a descriptive phrase for this condition is "the pathology of the average".

It is a bold and courageous individual who strives to break free of the average. And how do you break free? This is the intention of Synchronicity Contemporary Meditation and Holistic Lifestyle. Through balancing the dense dimensions of mind, emotions and the body, and emphasizing the positive polarity whenever possible, you can consciously create an experience beyond the average.

This doesn't mean you need to stand in the crowd and become a spectacle. Rather, you can become wakeful and aware in each moment rather than being locked into old patterns of habit and conditioning. It is possible to be extraordinary within the ordinary.

So, for this week, strive to be the best you can be by living in balance and expressing your full potential. Be all that you are!

A Safe Place For Your Mind

Our emotions tend to dominate our actions and reactions, even though we like to claim otherwise. Society often sees emotions as a sign of weakness, so we got used to putting them aside and try to focus on the rational details of life. But no matter how strict and logical you want to be, you will always be a human being, not a robot, and so you will always feel. (not a bad thing!)

Having an upbeat outlook and being positive is a life long goal for all of us. After all, what is more important, in the end...how much money you made during your life or how many times you you hugged your child? However, for many people their happiness is overshadowed by a negative cloud. This is one of the biggest problems you will face during your life. There is no obvious way to ignore a negative experience and try to replace it with positive ones. It just doesn't work that way.

As a child, if your dog dies, you experience sadness. Your parents will certainly buy you another dog, but the sorrow still takes a long time to go away. Things get even more serious with adults. A fight with your spouse the night before will affect your entire day. You will go to work upset and angry, with your mind focused on that negative experience. Then you will go home in an even worse mood. You won't be able to notice the sun shining or your favorite song on the radio. All of this because of that one negative experience is filling you with contaminating thoughts that alter the way you perceive the reality around you.

What you need is a safe place to relax your mind and regain your perspective. And that place is relatively easy to find. It can be an actual location or a place within your mind. The best idea is to totally emerge yourself in it. Let's say you have a problem on your mind and it just won't go away. Go bowling! You don't know how to bowl, you say? No problem, go out and try it! Get caught up in the game, think about those funny shoes, choose a favorite ball, invent new strategies to throw and so on. Your mind will suddenly jump from the negative thoughts that dominated your last hours or days and start processing a whole new kind of information.

A safe place can come in many forms. It can be a song, a movie, even a person. The main thing is to allow yourself to get completely involved with this new activity. You might still think about the problem every now and then - ignore them and get even more involved in what you are doing.

When the bowling game, the song, the movie or the conversation ends you will have a rather abrupt return to your problems. You will probably feel upset again and want to go back to the safe place. Don't do that. The safe place exists only as a helping hand, not as a solution to your problems. It is there to help you relax your mind, for a few minutes or hours. This is a vital stage in your solution to what is bothering you. You will return from your safe place with an increased energy level. You will feel better about yourself and gain more confidence that any issue can be resolved. This is how a small escape from a harsh reality can increase your fighting energy and allow you to solve even the most difficult problems.

These are great suggestions and work wonders on banishing negative thoughts. But I want you to find a way to minimize these bad days. The way to do this is to start a consistent meditation routine. Yes, it's true; take 30 minutes a day to sit with yourself and your mind. After about a week you will find that every moment is filled with more peace and solace.

Most people have a difficult time sitting quietly for any amount of time. The solution is to use a meditation CD with special frequencies that ease your mind into a state that makes it much easier to sit and meditation. Find more information here --> Meditation Music.
